Some moments call for music in the background, a coffee and something to do with your hands. For those moments we've made our Flamenco Colouring Book: twenty-four flamenco dancers hand-drawn by illustrArte, waiting for you to add the colour.
Twenty-four dancers, not one repeated
Every sheet is a different drawing: trailing dresses, ruffles, shawls, fans, combs and even a guitar. No two are alike, so the book is good for twenty-four long sessions and never gets repetitive by the third page. All are original illustrations, drawn in Spain, each with her name at the foot: Pepa, Macarena, Lolita, Triana, Paquita…
Made for real colouring
- One illustration per sheet, with a blank back. Markers don't bleed into the next drawing, and when you've finished you can cut the sheet out and frame it.
- Clean, crisp black lines. We've rebuilt the book from the original high-resolution drawings, so every stroke is clear and you can colour without guessing where the line goes.
- Large format, 21.6 x 27.9 cm: plenty of room for ruffles and polka dots.
- 48 pages, paperback with a gloss finish.
Flamenco Colouring Book (€10.99). Also on Amazon. There is also an English-language edition, the Flamenco Dancer Coloring Book, with a different set of 24 dancers.
Four tips to get the most from it
- Test your colours on the back. Because the back of every sheet is blank, you have a swatch card to hand to see how each shade looks before you touch the dress.
- Start with the dress and leave the face until last. It's the hardest part, and it comes out better once your hand has loosened up.
- Choose your tools to suit the moment. Coloured pencils to go slowly and blend; markers for bright colours and bold polka dots; watercolour if you fancy something looser.
- Two shades for the polka dots. A red and a darker red around the edge of each dot give the dress depth without any fuss.
A gift to enjoy slowly
It's a gift for adults and teenagers: for the friend who dances, for the one who fills the house with flamenco, or for anyone who needs a quiet moment away from screens. Add a box of coloured pencils and it's a complete present for Christmas, Three Kings or a birthday.
