At a dance school the year doesn't start in January: it starts in September, back at the barre, and it's measured in rehearsals, exams and the June show. To keep track of all that we've created our 2027 Ballet Planner, with twelve hand-drawn dancers, one for each month, and the key dates of the dance world already written in. Please note: the planner is written in Spanish.
The 2027 dance year, already in the planner
Each festival or competition appears on the day it starts, so you can see it coming without the week filling up with repeated reminders. Here are some of the ones you'll find:
- Compañía Nacional de Danza at the Teatro Real: 15 to 18 January.
- Prix de Lausanne: the 55th edition, 31 January to 7 February.
- Festival de Jerez: 19 February to 6 March.
- Youth America Grand Prix: the final in Tampa, 26 April to 2 May.
- International Dance Day: 29 April. 2027 is a special one: it marks 300 years since the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre, the choreographer in whose honour it is celebrated.
- Pina Bausch at the Teatro Real: 11 to 16 June.
- USA International Ballet Competition: 12 to 26 June.
- Swan Lake at Les Arts (Valencia): 24 to 27 June.
- Dance World Cup final in Lisbon: 29 June to 9 July.
- International Flamenco Day: 16 November.
We've only included confirmed dates. Many dance festivals in Spain announce their programme just a few months ahead, so we haven't made any up: the gaps in August, September, October and December are left for your classes, your shows and whatever is announced during the year.
What's inside
- Twelve original illustrations of dancers, one for each month, each with its own phrase.
- A calendar for every month with Spain's national holidays.
- The month's dance diary, with the festivals and competitions that fall in it.
- A dance word every month, from plié to révérence, explained so anyone can follow.
- An illustrated notes page every month.
- Printed in full colour, in a 15.2 x 22.9 cm format: it fits in a school bag and in the ballet shoe bag.
Two formats: choose how you write
- 2027 Ballet Planner – week to view (€13.99). Monday to Sunday on every spread, without turning a page: for anyone who wants to see the whole week at once. 158 pages, lighter. Also on Amazon.
- 2027 Ballet Planner – four days to view (€16.99). Two days to a page and four on every spread, with plenty of room for class times, rehearsals and homework. 236 pages. Also on Amazon.
Which one to choose?
If a line or two a day is enough and you'd rather carry less weight, go for the week to view. If school, classes and rehearsals fill your days, the four days to view. The illustrations, holidays and dance dates are the same in both.
A gift for anyone who lives at the dance school
A planner gets used every day from January to December, so it's one of those gifts that never ends up on a shelf. It's perfect for Christmas and Three Kings, for the student who is starting to take dance seriously, or for the dance teacher, who has groups, exams and the end-of-year show to juggle. A tip: buy it in good time, so it's in their hands before January begins.
If flamenco is danced at home too, we have the 2027 Flamenco Planner, with the Andalusian fairs and festivals already marked. And to round off the gift, take a look at our Tina and Marina ballet collection and at ¡A bailar!, our ballet activity book for the little ones.
